Teens as Philanthropists
The Sudbury Foundation is pleased to support the Foundation for MetroWest’s Youth in Philanthropy program - also known as YIP – for the third year in a row.
The semester-long program, which begins in January, is held on Wednesday evenings from 7 pm to 8:30 pm in our meeting room at The Grange Hall in Sudbury and is open to high school students in the MetroWest area. CLICK HERE to download the application and the complete schedule.
The program teaches teens how philanthropy can create positive change in their community by giving them the opportunity to take the lead on all phases of grantmaking.
Throughout the program, students learn the importance of the nonprofit sector and giving back to their own community. Participants form their own Board of Trustees and have the opportunity to run for leadership positions, fundraise for the program, visit local organizations, and distribute grants.
Students who participate in this program will:
- Learn leadership skills
- Assess community needs
- Understand nonprofit operations and impacts
- Raise funds to support their efforts
- Evaluate and prioritize funding requests
- Make grantmaking and charitable gift decisions
- Positively affect their communities
