Breakfast of Champions

July 19, 2011

Atkinson Scholars 2011

On the cusp of greatness, the 15 Atkinson Scholarship recipients, selected for their scholastic achievement and contributions to the community, celebrated their award at an annual breakfast hosted by the Foundation on May 15, 2011.

The Atkinson Scholarship Program recognizes local students with financial need, academic promise and the capacity to make a meaningful contribution to society.

The reception, held at the Grange Hall in Sudbury, acknowledged the following students:

Jamie Charest, Kelsey Colpitts, Gillian Gordon, Amanda Hutchinson, Lauren Jacobs, Rachel Lam, Ryan McAvoy, Cesar Perez, Brian Pollock, Jason Porter, Ryan Shelley, Daniel Sigalovsky, Lawrence Stevenson, Victoria Vanaria and Katelyn Wright.

Thirteen of the students graduated from Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School in June; Ms. Hutchinson graduated from Westborough High School and Mr. Sigalovsky from the Massachusetts Academy of Math and Science.

These students were selected because they exemplify the qualities valued by former Sudbury residents Herbert and Esther Atkinson, who established the Foundation in 1952 and for whom the scholarship is named. In recognizing the students, Sudbury Foundation Trustees Sharon Driscoll, Susan Iuliano and Jill Stansky noted their many contributions, both in and out of school.
